No Limits IT has developed a practical unit of work to cover the Electronic Circuits component of The Software Developer's View of the Hardware option topic. Rather than tell students about how different gates work, let them discover it themselves with this self-paced set of practical lessons. The unit of work comes as a set of Black-line masters, as well as a CD containing a freeware circuit simulation program for MAC or Windows.
There are two versions of this unit of work, one for Windows and one for the MAC OS. All instructions are specific to the software that is being used. Multiple copies of the workbook can be made for students (within the one school), and since the software is Freeware, you can place the circuit simulation program on as many machines as you like. There are 18 activities that start with simple gates and work all the way up to 4 bit adders and data latches. This should be an enjoyable unit of work for students as they near the end of their studies.
